I tried Kopi Luwak (AKA poo coffee) and I was pleasantly surprised.

To the horror of coffee obsessed basic bitches everywhere, it was widely reported that faecal bacteria was found in ice from Costa, Caffe Nero and Starbucks. But I took this one step further and tried coffee made from cat poo.

Let me set the scene. I was in Bali. I was touring around a coffee plantation and it turns out it was a Kopi Luwak coffee farm, selling the most expensive coffee in the world, made from you guessed it, poo.

The Asian civet cat, known as the luwak, is a nocturnal tree animal that is native to Southeast Asia. The lukwaks eat the coffee beans, digests them, which ferments the beans in a very unique way and then, they poo them out. The beans are then collected by the farmers, washed (thankfully!), dried and then roasted.

This coffee is widely regarded as one of the most exclusive in the world, with a whopping price tag of £325 a cup in some places, but is it worth it?

I am not a big coffee drinker. But with Jack Nicholson in The Bucket List in the back of my mind, I had to try it.

I don’t pretend to be a connoisseur in any sense of the word but I thoroughly enjoyed the cup of joe.

No sugar or milk additions were necessary as you want to be able to try the unique earthy and savoury flavour.

You may be wondering if this 'crappacino' is sustainable.

Well, there are of course ethical considerations. Due to the large price tag that comes with this coffee, some civet farms have been abusing the animals, holding them in close confinement, treating them poorly, force-breeding, and, of course, force-feeding. These issues are compounded with counterfeiting as well as disease.

You just need to be extra vigilant and only buy certified Kopi Luwak Coffee that is real and caged free.

And now elephant poo coffee is becoming a thing, should this be the next thing on my bucket list?
